Something sad to share

We are heading to Phoenix Az. tomorrow for a funeral. We found out Wednesday that My husbands Sisters husband (hopefully you followed that I guess I should have just said brother in law) was killed tragically in moped accident Tuesday night. He had just bought it and was driving it home to surprise his daughter for her 16th Birthday. He crashed head on into a tree and his chest was crushed and he died not to long after arriving to the hospital . Needless to say a lot of tears have been shed at our house and I am just sick for my sister in law Cheryl. It is a reminder to me that life is so so fragile and you never know when someone you love will be gone in an instant! Hug your loved ones and count your blessings every day that you have another day to be with them

I do have several projects in the works and a couple that are almost done, but for obvious reasons they have been put on hold, But when we get back I will post them.

Back to school

My kids went back to school today! And I am realizing I am losing my #1 baby

watchers :-(

I am actively working on a family command center. I found a great magnet board at DI and so I will have to post in a couple of days what I came up with.

Danielles ABC Book

I put together this fun ABC Book of Danielles first year this last week. It is all ready to be printed into a book through Winkflash.com. It is 28 pages long so I did not want to post the whole thing, but here are just a couple of pages to show off.

Family Command center

I want to make a family command center similar to this photo. I have longingly wanted to duplicate something like this for a couple of years now. I also saw some cute ideas on the Tip Junkie blog if you want to visit there. My favorite Idea was a magnet board idea from http://controllingmychaos.blogspot.com/2009/08/another-problem-solved.html

I had it posted on my blog yesterday before I found out that I needed special permission to use photo's from her blog whoops!. Anyway so my goal is to have a house hold command center by the end of this week!

Digital Scrapbooking

Here are a few layouts I have done over this last year of my little Danielle. I can't believe she just turned 1 year old! I am collecting all of her layouts from her first year and want to make a Photo book at Winkflash.com. They have about the best price for photo books.

Magic eraser

One of my new favorite things is the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It has cleaned things that I thought would never be clean again! For instance my kitchen sink is white and there have been these stains that just would not clean. The magic eraser cleaned it off like it was nothing! It also works great on the stove. I also have stainless steal pots and pans that I hang from my Pot holder above my counter that I like to stay looking nice because they are displayed for all to see. The Magic eraser cleans that dark tinge that can build up on the bottoms of the pots and pans. It also works great in the bathroom too (sink/tub)!

I have tried the Wal-Mart knock off brand, but It does not clean as well as the Mr. Clean brand.

Make old fixtures look more modern!

Today I found this great oil rubbed bronze spray paint by "Krylon"at Kmart of all places! I have had plans to spray paint all my gold/brass knobs and fixtures for a long time, but have not been able to find the oil rubbed bronze paint. My 13 year old daughter thought I was weird for acting so excited over finding it, but Yay! I can't help being excited! So here is an example of a light fixture that I painted today when I got home. I can not believe the difference!

Cute stitchery idea

I found these cute magnets by Mary Ann Carter while searching the net for stitchery ideas. This is definitely a project I want to try soon! She has made mini stitcheries and put them on those wood buttons. These are her Valentine patterns, but she has summer and winter ones also. Sewing projects

So I have been noticing that vintage looking aprons are a big thing right now. This old pattern is close to the look I am looking for. Don't you wish real women had figures like that! LoL! Anyway I found some really cute fabric the other day and a more modern pattern that I think I like. So I am going to blow the dust off my sewing machine and give it whirl. I think this would make a great Super Saturday project. I also want to make a kit that has the apron, matching, hot pads, glass gem magnets, and maybe a recipe card holder. etc. would'nt that make a great christmas gift or wedding gift/ shower gift for a newlywed!
I also want to make some of those scripture case holders made out of place mats and the bottoms of blue jeans.
I will post pictures of the results when I am done!

Easy kiddie pool garden

So I think a lot of people have had to make changes with the crazy economy right now. One of those changes being growing your own fruits and veggies. I have always wanted to have a garden. I tried one a few years back and I was too ambitious and planted a huge garden that had every plant you could think of. I got over whelmed and eventually it was over run by morning glory and other weeds that I could not keep up with and I gave up. A friend in my neighborhood had some beautiful raised container gardens that she said were much easier to take care of. So this year that was my plan. My biggest obstacle was if my husband would have time to build me some frames before the planting season. Then on one of my many trips to my local Wal-mart I saw the cheap plastic kiddie pools in the garden dept. And I was struck by a revelation that they could be my containers! But knowing if it was even possible I looked it up on the Internet when I got home and learned that others do it and you just have to make sure that you poke drain holes in the bottom so you don't get root rot. I planted only the veggies and fruit that I buy at the store, like zucchini, yellow squash, tomatoes, cucumbers, green and red bell peppers and watermelon and then I also planted pumpkins so we could have our own for Halloween. It has turned out great and I have not had to pull out one weed because I was able to control what I put in the pools. Steer manure, Miracle grow time release garden soil and peet moss. This is how I am going to plant a garden for now on!

Book Club

So I want to start a Bug a boo book club! Because I love to read good books:-)  But they have to be book that make me think  and that I can't put down :-)  So For anyone who is interested I will post a new book at the beginning of each month. And because I am starting so late in the month of August I want to recommend a shorter book that I love called "Two old women" By Velma Wallis.   This book is kind of simple, but the message is outstanding! I usually get my books from Amazon I can usually get some great deals on used books there. Another great resource is website called Swap tree where you can trade books with other people. Digital Scrapbooking!

I used to do the regular scrap booking and have always been interested in digital, but did not know how to start and felt intimidated. I tried the 30 day trial of Photo shop and got so confused! And I thought there has got to be a better way! So I found two awesome programs about a year ago that I use. "My memories" by Kodak and another one called "Memory mixer" They are so easy! If you know how to load pictures and point and click you can do this! It has been a life saver after having a new baby. I don't have to get out a bunch of supplies, I seriously have done most of my scrap booking this last year in front of the computer feeding a baby at the same time I only need one hand! :-)


Today I worked on a scrapbook layout for a Primary activity we did in June. I am the secretary in our Primary Pres. So I like to take pictures of the primary kids activities and make layouts and post them on our bulletin board at church. I put more photos on a page then I normally do because the kids love to see them selves so I tried to put as many as could in the layout.

Glass magnets

So this is my new craft I love to do! I whipped these out last night. So simple and so addicting!

You just need an 1 inch round paper punch (you can cut it by hand, but the punch makes it a perfect fit.) 1 inch round glass gems, cute scrap book paper, round magnets, E-6000 glue , and hoge podge glue.

-Punch out your paper

-brush the hoge podge on it

-place your gem on top of the paper (right side up of course)

-press out any bubbles by pushing down

- Let it set and dry

- put a small dab of E-6000 on the back and place your magnet and let it dry

Super Saturday crafts

Seasonal magnet frame:
This is a craft that my sister and I came up with. There is sheet metal inside the frame , but I painted the whole thing to make it look like it was all wood. We found wood letters at this fantastic wood store in Midvale Ut. called "Bare Wood" and painted them according to the seasonal saying like Fall, winter, spring, summer, Joy, Boo, Love, Luck, freedom, snow, etc. put magnets on the back and you just change out the saying

I spy bag:

These were so popular a couple of years ago and still can be great gifts for people with kids!

Wood turkey decoration:

I am determined to get Thanksgiving decor back ! These days the stores just skip from Halloween to Christmas decor and Thanksgivning gets passed over. This turkey was a cute decoration that my sons preschool teacher had in her house. I found the cut turkey wood pieces at Bare wood in Midvale Ut.

Nativity puzzle:

My kids love getting this puzzle out every Christmas and put it together over and over again!

A friend of mine gave me the pattern to this that Her dad had made. And sadly I can't remember her name to give her full credit.

This craft ended being a lot harder for some of the women then I thought. I forget that not everyone has experience painting detail. Anyway it ended up taking a couple more meet ups at my house for people to get this one done, but it was worth it in the end.

Stitchery

So one of my latest things that I am into is stitchery. I helped start stitchery club with some other ladies in my neighborhood last Fall. This is a Thanksgiving one that I came up with. There are not very many cute Thanksgiving patterns out there so I decided to come up with my own!

Anyway I have a cute rustic square frame that I want to switch out my different seasonal Stitcheries.

My first post!

I finally have done it! I have finally started my own blog to share my interests, latest projects and ideas! I hope that some of my thoughts and ideas will be of interest to others and assist them to getting their creative juices flowing! I came up with the name Bug a boo corner because that is what My mom called me and my siblings growing up and I find that it is an endearment that I use with my kids too :-)
I am a happily married wife and Mother of 4 great kids ages 13, 11, 8 and my youngest will turn 1 in a week! My goodness the year has flown! She has been one of my more higher need babies which has kept me from doing much more than just being a mom ( which I love), but sometimes I just need to get in touch with my creative side and I am finding as she is getting older that I am able to start getting back into my personal interests and start crafting again.:-)
My latest musings have been resin jewelry and glass magnets and stitchery. I will have to post pictures soon, but I am in the middle of reorganizing my craft room after it needing to be done for over a year. I am literally dusting off the cob webs and ready to get back into the swing of things after a busy year with my new baby Danielle.
