Hey everyone! Yes, I'm still alive. I don't know why blogging has been so hard for me these past few months. I have several things I need to post, but for now I'm just going to post about the desk that my daughter and I just recently redid for her room.
She's been wanting a desk in her room for a while now and so the other day I got onto craigslist.com and found a desk for $30 that I thought would work. Her room has a lot of turquoise and aqua in it and the desk was already aqua so I thought we might be able to get away with just changing the drawer pulls. When we went to pick it up I realized that it was going to need a lot of work. I was going to leave and keep looking, but my daughter loved the desk and didn't want to leave without it. The lady threw in a free chair, so we piled the desk and the free chair into the van and home we came.
Here is the lovely desk in all its glory!
Here's another picture of the desk with my daughter, Hannah, taking the paint off the top. She really was a huge help and hung in there until almost the very end - about a day and a half!
This is a picture of the lovely free chair, which was actually very filthy and wouldn't even come clean with a magic eraser. We ended up repainting it, too.
And here's a picture of Hannah enjoying the finished product. She absolutely loves it! I love that she loves it and I also think it turned out great! My favorite part, though, was working on a project with my beautiful daughter. I hope we'll continue to do this over the years.
We did this repaint job the old fashioned way, by painting and sanding and painting and sanding and then waxing and buffing because the furniture comes out so much nicer that way, like Amish furniture.
I'll be posting some other things soon!!!
Darling desk! I love it. It turned out so CUTE!
ReplyDeletepaula I love it! I can't believe how much Hannah looks like you when you were little!
