My advent Calendar

I loved the muffin tin idea for an advent calendar.  So this is what I came up with.

Supplies:
-24 hole mini muffin tin (wal-mart has them for around $4.50)
-Christmas Scrap book paper ( I like to get the double sided paper so I have more paper options)
-2 1/4 inch scalloped paper punch ( you can use a round or square 2 inch punch also. I just like the scalloped look for Christmas)
-Christmas embellishments to decorate
-Numbers.  I just combined a bunch of different number stickers that I had, but you could use a the cricut machine , or print them off the computer too.
-If your tin has holes you can tie ribbon on also.   You can use it as a decoration or to hang it on the wall.
-I also spray painted mine a oil rubbed bronze color and then sanded it on the edges to give it a antiqued look.

  1. Michelle, this turned out so cute!! I love the idea.

Did you just glue the scrapbook paper onto magnet sheets? Mod Podge over it? I'm dying to make one. :)

  3. Julie, I intended on using magnetic sheeting to mod podge the scrapbook paper on, but I could not find what I was looking for at the store, but I did find heavy duty magnetic strips with self adhesive on the back. I stuck a strip on the top and bottom of each paper square. It worked out nice, but I still think the magnetic sheeting would be the best bet because it would give a nice stability to the scrapbook paper. Also I forgot to mention in my origianl post that I used a 2 1/4 inch scalloped paper punch. I edited it into my post now.
I hope you have fun making yours. I just love these kind of crafts!

  4. I used the Krylon satin oil rubbed bronze spray paint. I found it at Kmart. If you are using a muffin tin with teflon (sp?) coating on it I would sand it some first before spray painting it because if not the paint does not like to stick.

  5. Thanks. I'm trying to decide if I want to paint, or just leave natural. I love the new one you did with the Cricut!!
