A Valentine Stitchery

This is one of three stitichery designs that I designed last January, but never was able to stitch it because of a demanding baby.  Luckily I was able to stitch this one a few days ago.    I know it is still wrinkled and has a wet spot in the middle because I was trying to smooth out the wrinkles by spraying it with water before I took the picture.,  I wish that I could show it completed. I mean the stitchery is completed, but I can't decide if I should frame it, make it into a pillow etc. and I was afraid that Valentines day would be past before I decided so I thought that I better just post it in case I did not get to it.

Miss Spitfire

I don't know if anyone noticed that I added a new book for February!  It is called Miss Spitfire. It is the Helen Keller story from her teacher Ann Sullivans perspective.  I loved this book and it gave me much more of an appreciation of Ann and her role to the Helen Keller story.  There are also really neat pics at the back of the book that I had never seen before of Helen and Ann.

Awesome blog!

Hey this is Paula, I ran across a really fun blog that I thought I would share with the rest of you. It is http://betterafter.blogspot.com/ It has really inspired me to stop passing up some things at the thrift store or yard sales that I think are too outdated or worn. I'm excited to go find something to redo! Actually, now that I think about it, I have a few things in my house I need to redo already. I'm going to add them to my growing list of crafty things to accomplish! I promise to post pics. Here is a picture of a little cabinet I redid not long ago, but unfortunately I don't have a 'before' picture because, as usual, I forgot to take one! But, just imagine it as a raw wood peice because that's what it was. :) I needed something smallish in my 'powder room' downstairs to store toilet paper and towels, but couldn't find anything for less than $100. I finally found this little cabinet at Michaels one day, used my 40% off coupon, brought it home and got to work! I love it when that happens!

Elegant Valentines Wreaths

My sister Paula and I were talking the other day about all the wreaths out there that are being made for Valentines day this year.  We have seen a lot of cute ones! Some with felt, cup cake liners, fabric, burlap, etc.  We had both talked about how nice silk flowers  or roses might look .  I searched the net and found some beautiful wreaths!

I can't wait to incorporate some of these ideas and come up with my own Wreath.
Share with me some of your own Valentine Wreath ideas!

Photo Valentines!

So I know a few of you saw the adorable Valentine idea from http://24-7-365.blogspot.com/2009/02/lavish-me-with-praise.html   I decided I just had to do it too!  So I took some pics of my school age  kids.

got on my Digital  scrapbooking software and made a background,  inserted their photos.

Then I added the suckers!

So Cute!

Young Womens bookmark

I decided that the Young Women need a magnetic book mark too!  I found out that their theme for this year is Joshua 1:9 Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid , neither be thou dismayed, for the Lord God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
What A great theme!  I decided that that theme needed to be on a book mark so here it is! I could not decide if I wanted the Christ picture black and white or sephia tone so I decided to make one of each.
I have not had this one printed out yet so I can't show an example of a cut completed one, but here is the jpg image.

you click on this image, copy it and save it to your computer and then send the file to Walmart photo or whatever photo place you like and have it printed out as a 4x6 photo. I kept a little extra space on each side of the photo because most photo places crop off some of each side of a 4x6 photo so preview your prints before you order them so you can see what it looks like cropped. They usually let you preview it.  I know Walmart does.
After you get your prints cut them down the center long ways to seperate the two book marks. fold in half the other way and add the magnets. You can laminate them also before you add the magnets.

here is a finished primary one so you can have an idea of what it should look like.

A passion of mine...

I discovered a few years ago that I love to do stitchery. I find it very relaxing and it's something I love to do while watching tv or while riding in the car, especially on long trips. I've even made up a few of my own patterns. I haven't taken pictures of everything I've done, but I thought I would post a couple of things that I've created over the past couple of years.

This one is actually a Mac-a-doodles design. I met her (the Mac-a-doodles lady) one year at one of my mother-in-law's enrichment activities and this pattern is the one that started my love affair with stitchery. You can find the pattern here: http://www.macadoodles.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=28main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=28

This design I did on my own, but I think I got the idea from Michelle. I took it a little further by gluing fun buttons on the frame. Very fun!
